About

Women’s Mentoring Ministry invites you to prayerfully consider walking alongside us as we seek to encourage one another to grow in character: reflecting Christ-likeness; in conviction: knowledge of the Truth leading to maturity in Christ; and in competence: having opportunities to use our spiritual gifts to serve and love others, all to the glory of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

This Year’s Themes

BOOK OF ECCLESIASTES

Led by: Rosa Loving

Solomon, the richest and wisest man, experimented with life “under the sun” (from man’s perspective without God) to see what it was that made life worth living. In the laboratory of life he experimented with enjoying various physical pleasures, accomplishing great and costly works, and accumulating great possessions, only to discover that there was no lasting satisfaction in them. He had everything, but his life was empty! He concluded that man should enjoy the life and blessings that God gives, “fear God and keep his commandments, for God will bring every act to judgment.”

WOMANLY DOMINION (Mark Chanski)

Led by: Mandy Schoonhoven

The godly Christian woman wears beautiful ornaments that are ‘precious in the sight of God’ (1 Peter 3:4b). But her jewelry is not only the necklace of “a gentle and quiet spirit” (1 Peter 3:4a), but also the bracelets of “strength and dignity” (Proverbs 31:17, 25). (M. Chansky) “Women, just like men, are called to the grand and challenging mission of subduing and ruling in their God- assigned spheres of life — in personal godliness, in emotional resilience, in marital life, in motherhood, in the church, in the public square. That’s what we explore in Womanly Dominion.” (M. Chanski)

BOOK OF 1 JOHN

Led by: Sandy Lee

Do you ever feel like reading your Bible is boring and you’re not getting much out of it? Well, it doesn’t have to be that way, nor should it. All believers, not just Bible teachers, should know how to study the Bible. The study and understanding of Scripture is fundamental to our spiritual growth, because the Word of God is used by the Holy Spirit to transform us. Join me in learning how to study the Bible for yourself through the book of 1 John and experience the transforming work of the Spirit through Bible study in your life. We will engage in prayer, accountability
and homework.

THE DISCIPLINE OF GRACE (Jerry Bridges)

Led by: Karen Fernandez

The idea of God’s grace and the pursuit of personal discipline seem a total contradiction. In fact, Bridges says, “Grace and the pursuit of holiness seem to be opposed to one another, but they go hand in hand. The pursuit of holiness must be anchored in the grace of God – if not anchored in God’s grace you will be doomed to fail.” “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” Titus 2:11–12 Areas that will be studied this fall are: Disciplined by Grace; Dependent Discipline; The Discipline of Conviction, and three more.

JOY BEYOND AGONY: EMBRACING THE CROSS OF CHRIST (Selected lessons by Jane Roach)

Led by: Margaret Tran

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) “No matter how shameful your past, how painful your present, or how uncertain your future seems, there is a way to…live with joy and eternal purpose…” (J. Roach) In the same way that Jesus endured the agony of the cross by looking to the joy of His completed work, we, too, must run with our eyes fixed on the abundant life He purchased for us and anticipate our glorification forever.
In the next six weeks, we will be focusing on specific aspects of Jesus’ cross that testify of the joy beyond agony He endured for us.

About This Ministry

It is the desire of the women’s ministry to continually teach women, through instruction and by example, the beauty, glory, joy, and freedom of biblical womanhood to the exaltation of Christ.

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips not enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the Word of God will not be dishonored.” Titus 2:3–5

Mentoring groups provide a place where women are encouraged and equipped through the study of God’s Word and fellowship with one another. We desire to help women grow in character-reflecting Christ-likeness; in conviction-knowledge of the Truth leading to maturity in Christ; and in competence-having opportunities to use their spiritual gifts to serve and love others, all to the glory of God and His Son, Jesus Christ. We hope you would prayerfully consider walking alongside us as we seek to walk in a manner pleasing to Him.
