Mariano Detorio

Philippines

Mariaono Detorio is a missionary of Sola Gratia serving the Lord in the area of Mindanao known as South Cotabato. As a church planter to the T’boli tribe and an itinerant preacher, Mariano is being used by the Lord to train pastors in this remote southern region of the Philippines.

This year (2009) Mariaono is just beginning a church planting mission in the needy “Ubo Tribe Area,” an area which he surveyed with other missionary workers in September of 2008. This place where the gospel has not been preached has long been a burden in Mariano’s heart to go and proclaim Jesus. The Ubo Tribe gladly received them and God has already worked out in the heart of the Chieftain to donate a church lot for Mariano to begin preaching. A T’boli man who married an Ubo woman donated 2 hectares of land for the church income generating project. The strategic place where Mariano is building a ministry center is about six hours drive from highway proper. The Provincial Government had put up a dirt road, but it is a very muddy road impassable by an ordinary vehicle.

“It is very hard to reach but there are God’s elects in the mountain range, the “gem” in the mud and they must hear the good news. Rom.10:14-17. The Ubo Tribemen are hungry for God’s word. Their Chieftain urged Mariano hand his team to come back soon. Missionary Partners, please help us pray for this newly open Ubo Tribe Ministry. We have already churches among some B’laan and T’boli tribes and we need to establish gospel works among Ubo as False Cult are also flocking in the area” (from a letter from Mariano, January 2009).
