NextGen is our comprehensive ministry program to young people at CBC. The age range covers newborns all the way through 24 years. NextGen has three main branches: Children, Students, and College.
With NextGen, we seek to act as one unified ministry, with a long-term curriculum, shared purpose and vision. It is our joy and honor to be used of God to raise a generation that is passionate about Christ and His mission in reaching people both locally and globally. We take seriously the call to partner with parents in disciple-making and want to come alongside you and provide resources for you in every phase of life. We desire to see the next generation trust Christ for salvation, walk in obedience, and grow in their love of the gospel.
We disciple the next generation toward a Christ-exalting, mission-minded and biblical worldview.
“Posterity shall serve him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation” Psalm 22:30
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matt 28:19-20
Our Mission Defined
We desire the next generation to be:
Christ-exalting
We disciple the next generation to exalt Christ as supremely glorious.
Biblical
We establish the next generation in the foundation of God’s word for life and godliness.
Mission-minded
We equip the next generation to join God’s mission of glorifying His name by making disciples of all nations.
Accomplishing the Mission
NextGen Discipleship
Discipleship takes place in many forums. We disciple the next generation in large group formats through preaching and teaching, and small group formats through discussion times. Many other students are also involved in smaller discipleship groups outside of our ministry events with parents and/or other ministry leaders. Large group teaching and small group discipleship focuses on:
- Biblical exposition
- Systematic theology
- Biblical worldview
Parent Equipping
For those in Christian homes, the primary responsibility to disciple the next generation resides with parents. Therefore, we desire to come alongside parents in their efforts to disciple and shepherd their children. Some of the ways we do this include:
- Parenting seminars
- Parenting book recommendations
Service Opportunities
One of the ways we develop a mission-minded worldview is to give opportunities for the next generation to serve God and others in ministry.
- Opportunities to serve in the local church
- Participating in missions/outreach
